The nondestructive testing technology of the ancient trees health problems must be solved in the protection of ancient trees in practice. According to surveys, the ancient tree’s health condition more or less has some problem prevalently. It is meaningful to investigate ancient trees timely, estimate ancient trees exactly and confirm health assessment system of ancient trees for protecting ancient trees better. This study investigated a total of312ancient trees,132Platycladus orientalis,127Sabina chinensis,and53Pinus tabulaeformis. Based on leaves color, the rate of dead leaves, leaves of with health situation, top shoots health rate, and bark health rate, canopy healthy rate, and a level branch health rate, and II level branch health rate, and a level branch average length, and leaves area index and tree potential indicators,it has been established the health evaluation criterion for ancient tree-Platycladus orientalis,Sabina chinensis and Pinus tabulaeformis, and was used stress wave loss less detection technology to detect the health situation of ancient tree inside trunk to verify the result. The main conclusions are as follows:Regarding Platycladus orientalis and Sabina chinensis and Pinus tabulaeformis as objects, through factor analysis method, it was used principal component score of each research object as the new classification indexes, with Euclidean distance to measure the differences between index, using cluster-average method for the study of objects for system cluster. The result was divided ancient trees Platycladus orientalis into4a health grade, Sabina chinensis into5a health grade, Pinus tabulaeformis into4a health grade. The result was evaluated of ancient trees health of each specie. In the investigation of ancient Platycladus orientalis,60%is more healthy,30%is normal and6%is very poor. In the investigation of ancient Sabina chinensis, above53%is more healthy,30%is normal,13%is poor,2%is very poor. In the investigation of ancient Pinus tabulaeformis,70%is more healthy,30%is poor. On this basis, the research also used stress wave nondestructive testing of health status within the ancient tree trunks to verify the accuracy of the classification of the species. This study were selected nine trees(Platycladus orientalis60#,96#,97#,98#, Sabina chinensis133#, Pinus tabulaeformis2#,6#,9#and11#) in the stress wave detection. Based on Arbotom software analysis system, it was gotten stress wave propagation velocity of the section between the sensor and analyzed the health status of the inside of the trunk, finally, using the appearance characteristics of ancient tree which affect health indicators to establish the health evaluation criterion of various tree species.
