Natural ecological system is a complex system combined action of living organisms and nonliving objects, in this complex system, plant community play an important role in system community and stability. In this vast plant community combine with the arbor, shrub, grass.and lower plants, the elements interact to each other form complex symbiotic relationship and maintain ecosystem health, conserving soil and water, maintain the ecological balance. For a long time, scientists pay attention to vegetation community action mechanism, plant restoration effect on soil and water conservation and ecological balance, but paid little attention to how the effect of three-dimensional structure combine with trees, shrubs, grass, and lower plant action on soil and water conservation. Related research often regard all the plants as a whole, it is hard to understand the relation of different types of vegetation vertical distribution with soil and water conservation and ecosystem health. In order to know respective role mechanism of different types of vegetation vertical distribution in soil and water conservation and ecosystem health and stability, we selected the monitoring data of natural repair sample area since1984from Chanting, Fijian. We analysis how arbor coverage and undergrowth coverage (shrubs, grass and low plants) effect soil and water conservation, in order to understand the role of two kind of coverage play in ecological restoration and soil and water conservation. Studies have found that the capacity of the land for forestry in the study area exit limitation, when the coverage of Arbor less than12%, undergrowth coverage less than13%, the total vegetation coverage less than20%, Woodland soil conditions are very thin and in serious soil and water erosion. When the arbor coverage increase from12%to55%, the tree is effective in control soil erosion and improves soil quality. When the arbor coverage higher than55%, too many trees growth need to consume large amounts of nutrients, undergrowth vegetation coverage and nutrient in soil start to decline with the increase of arbor coverage. Therefore during ecological restoration, we should control trees proportion, make the surface plant has plenty of light and nutrients to grow and develop, forming a good surface coverage, and thus play a better role in soil and water conservation, promote the ecosystem health, maintain the ecological balance.
