Roller-snapping now take up a sizeable chunk of the corn harvesters in china, and rollers are the core working part of the roller-snapping way.Aiming at roller-snapping unit used widely now,the paper make a deep and systemic theoretical analysis on them.Meanwhile,we photograph the snapping course which the corn move between rollers by high-speed camera, find the factors affecting moving course, and certain decision criteria for choosing main structure and performance parameters of snapping unit. The foundation of optimization design is provided. The factors which affect the performances of snapping unit are researched by means of experiments and theoretical analysis. The factors include diameter, rotate speed, working clearance, angle of header, and moving speed of corn harvester. We put forward theory of snapping rollers that snapping include fore-part,mid-part,and hind-part by the analysis of corn’s motion between snapping rollers, analyze the affecting factors of snapping rollers, set up computational method of roller length.Carrying out experimental study of corn’s ear-snapping course, during which imitating the situation of application of corn harvester in the field. On condition that different snapping roller’s rotate speed, working clearance and dolly’s speed, the angle between the corn and the roller was researched.Using the orthogonal experimental analysis on experimental data and according to materials to be conveyed,it’s determined that dolly’s speed is the most important factor of the angle between the corn and the roller. Also the optimum rotate speed of snapping rollers has been confirmed. And enrich the theoretic foundation of corn harvester.
