Study On Mixtures Of Three Turfgrass Species In Baotou Region

It is difficult to keep the lawn established by single cool-season turfgrass in evergreen appearance in Baotou region because of cool-season grass dying in summer. Based on the investigation of turfgrass species and varieties,we introduced three desirable varieties of Poa pratensis ’Bluechip’、Festusa rubraand ’Cindy Lou’ and Lolium perenne.The optimal combinations of cool-season turfgrasses were determined statistically by measuring the geminating speed、green period、winter hardiness and other indexes,and by comprehensive quality evaluation using a method of fuzzy mathematical. The main results were as follows:The sowing time had a great affect on condition of mixed turf,the six mixed turfs sowed in July 20^th behaved better than others on geminating speed、establishment rate、green period and winter hardiness.The combination of Poa pratensis 10g/m²+Lolium perenne 4g/m²+ Festusa rubra 6g/m² had a terrific performance on geminating speed and establishment rate;the combination of Poa pratensis 10g/m²+Lolium perenne 4g/m²+Festusa rubra 6g/m² and Poa pratensis 10g/m²+Festusa rubra 10g/m² were better than others on green period and winter hardiness.For ornamental lawn,the combination of Poa pratensis 10g/m²+Lolium perenne 4 g/m²+Festusa rubra 6g/m² and Poa pratensis 6.67g/m²+Lolium perenne 6.67g/m²+ Festusa rubra 6.67g/m² were the best,has a comprehensive value of 0.84 and 0.7865;the two combination above also were perfect for recreational lawn,but a different value of 0.844 and 0.7785.;the combination of Poapratensis 10g/m²+Lolium perenne 4g/m²+ Festusa rubra 6g/m² and Poa pratensis 10g/m²+Festusa rubra 10g/m² were the best for ecological lawn,and had a value of 0.851 and 0.8045.
