Alocasia macrorrhiza (L.) Schott belongs to Alocasia genus of Araceae plant, which is inthe area of Asia and America, and it is about160species all around the world. There are4species in China. Pharmacologic researches found that Alocasia genus plant has biologicalactivity on anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-bacterial and so on.Alocasia macrorrhiza (L.) Schott is one of the medicinal plants used usually innationalities area, medicinal its rhizome, Chineses medicine practitioners believe that itsflavor-anesthetic, smell-fishy, warm-nature, and it can clear away heat, cough, rheumatoid, and they have been used to cure various diseases. To optimize the process technology of Alocasia macrorrhiza (L.) Schott. Time ofsoaking, the thickness, amount of water were studied by orthogonal test with the content ofextractive, organic acid and raphide as the index. The optimum process technology were asfollows:10mm thick,10times of water amount,7days of soaking, once one day. The optimalprocess technology is feasible, which can be used in industrial production.Through the processing method, a number of compound which is high Chemical polaritydissolved in water extraction. Using high-performance liquid chromatography to study on afingerprint of concocted Alocasia macrorrhiza (L.) Schott. We investigated ten differentbatches of concocted Alocasia macrorrhiza (L.) Schott. The HPLC standard fingerprints ofconcocted Alocasia macrorrhiza (L.) Schott showing6common peaks, was analysed andestablished. Its stability, precision and reproducibility are good. The datas were analyzes by“Computer Aided Similarity Evaluation” software in order to analyze the semblance. Theresult of comparability was between0.987-0.815. The fingerprint presented in this paper mayprovide a reference for its quality control research. In our investigation of chemical constituents from Alocasia macrorrhiza (L.) Schott,15compounds were isolated by the methods of normal-phase and reverse-phase silica gelcolumn chromatography, HPLC, etc. Among them,9compounds were elucidated on the basisof chemical and spectral methods. The9compounds were identified as: linoleic acid (1),glycery1--palmitate (2),-sitosterol (3), daucosterol (4), gigantine A (5), Apigenin-8-C-β-D-glucoside (6), Quercetin-3-O-α-L-rhamnoside (7),6-O-palmitoly glucose ester (8),gigantine B (9).
