Angles ClassⅡmalocclusions is common malocclusions in orthodontic clinic. In the process of craniofacial growth and development, all sorts of internal andexternal factors (genetic, environmental) influence their growth anddevelopment and will result in various malocclusions. Therefore, study of thecharacteristics of craniofacial growth can contribute to explore thebio-mechanism of malocclusion. Some papers had reported the craniofacialgrowth and development through the longitudinal method, but for this method, data was difficult collected, needed long time to do it, and limited by ethics. Inthe past few years, studies of craniofacial growth focused on the60,70’s casesbased on the longitudinal data. For cross-sectional study, although data is not asaccurate as longitudinal study, but its collection is convenient, and the resultswas obtained in the short term. So in recent years, the researchers paid moreattention to the cross-sectional study. Objective: To describe the craniofacial growth and development changes ofsubjects with untreated Class Ⅱ malocclusion and contribute to the clinicalpractice.Material and Methods:837untreated subjects with Class Ⅱ malocclusion(332males and505females) were selected from records of the school ofstomatology, the fourth military medical university and divided into6groupsaccording to their CVM: CVM1-CVM6. WinCeph8.0was used to analyzecephalometric radiograph. The data were analyzed by spss13.0.Results: In Male Group: Go-Gn, Cd-Go, Cd-Gn, have a significant increasein CS1-CS2and CS2-CS3; ANS-PNS, Cd-A have a significant growth inCS2-CS3. In Female group: Cd-A, Go-Gn, and Cd-Gn have a significant growthin CS1-CS2and CS3-CS4.Conclusions: The length of mandibular ramus and mandibular body hassignificant growths in CS1-CS2and CS3-CS4in both males and females. Thesignificant growth of maxilla focuses on the CS1-CS2and CS2-CS3for Maleand CS1-CS2and CS3-CS4for Female.
