Objective:To observe the infection situation of Toxoplasma gondii in the healthy people of reproductive age, the pregnant women and the infertility patients in Shanxi Province, to realize the harm of toxoplasma gondii to the crowd of reproductive age in our province, to analysis the relationship between the toxoplasma gondii infection and the adverse pregnancy and fertility, and to provide a theory basis for the improvement of prepotency rate in Shanxi Province. Methods:The basic situation of all informants, such as name、sex、age、educational level、 profession and family income, pet exposure, gestational age, the reason and term of infertility, were filled in the questionnaire. At the same time,2ml of venous blood were extracted and the serum of every sample was separated. All serum were stored at-20℃before use. The IgG antibody of toxoplasma gondii was tested using ELISA assay.Results:(1)140of1729informants including694healthy people of reproductive age,535pregnant women and500infertility people were tested to be positive for the toxoplasma gondii IgG antibody and the positive rate is8.10%.(2) In the694healthy people (344male,350female),42(19male5.52%,23female6.57%) are toxoplasma gondii IgG antibody positive (6.05%). Statistical analysis revealed there were no significant difference in groups of different sex、age、profession and residence (P>0.05); but the difference is significant in groups of different educational level, family income, whether exposed to the pet(P<0.05).(3)41of535pregnant women (7.66%) were toxoplasma gondii IgG antibody positive. It is a little higher than in healthy people, but the difference is not significant. There is no significant difference in groups of different age (P>0.05), but the difference is significant in groups of whether contact with the pet and with or without averse pregnancy history (P<0.05).(4) In the extraction of500infertility patients, toxoplasma gondii IgG antibody positive rate is11.40%(57of500). It is higher than in healthy people of reproductive age and pregnant women (P<0.05). The difference is significant in groups of different sex and whether exposured to the pet (P<0.05) but is not significant between groups of primary and secondary infertility patients (P>0.05).Conclusions:(1) In the survey of toxoplasma gondii infection rate in reproductive age group, the infection rate is high in crowds who have lower education degree (13.04%), poor economic condition (10.84%), eat the raw meat or expose to pet (14.95%). Which show us that toxoplasma gondii infection is related to people’s quality, pet exposure, and living habits. We should pay attention to personal hygiene and the public health, reasonable diet, don’t eat raw and undercooked meat to prevent toxoplasma gondii infection.(2) In the survey of toxoplasma gondii infection rate in reproductive age group, toxoplasma gondii infection rate of the pregnant women (7.66%)is higher than the common healthy people (6.05%), revealed that the pregnant women are more susceptible to toxoplasma gondii. Toxoplasma gondii infection is an important factor for adverse pregnancy outcome such as abort, still-embryonic, premature birth, stillbirth, and fetal malformation and so on. Therefore, we should strengthen the propaganda and education of reproductive age group; inspect the toxoplasma gondii infection regularly, detection and treatment at the early stage of infection, to prevent the happening of the congenital toxoplasma gondii disease. We sure that give birth to a healthy, clever the next generation.(3) In this survey, the order of the toxoplasma gondii infection rate in reproductive age group from high to low is the infertility patients (11.40%), the pregnant women (7.66%), and the healthy people (6.05%), toxoplasma gondii infection rate of women in the infertility patients (15.44%) is higher than men (6.58%), revealed that the toxoplasma gondii infection is related to infertility. Therefore, we suggest that reproductive age women should avoid contacting with the pet to improve the eugenic birth rate, and we should strengthen the propaganda and education to reproductive age group, inspect the toxoplasma gondii infection regularly, detection and treatment at the early stage of infection, to improve the eugenic birth rate of reproductive age group.
