| Objective:To report the outcome of total knee arthroplasty in33cases with rheumatoid arthritis.Methods:33patients were treated by total knee arthroplasty between May2002to February2009in our hospital.Follow-up study was carried out for2-9years,averaged in4.8years,and the data were analyzed by the scores of Hospital for Special Surgery.Results:One case which accepted simultaneous bilateral total knee arthroplasty die in massive hemorrhage of upper alimentary tract and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The patients’pain and function were improved effectively after operation. At the time of final follow-up.the mean HSS was89.7,showing significant difference(p<0.05)between Pre-and post operative HSS. The follow-up showed that excellent and good results were achieved in90.9%.Conclusions:Total knee arthroplasty is an effective orthopedic interventions for reducing pain and enhancing physical function in rheumatoid arthritis patients. |
