Objective:Through the determination of pituitary hormone before and after radiation, we record the serological change of the five pituitary hormone, to explore the effect of Irradiation on Pituitary hormone in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Patients. Methods:In this Retrospective research,101cases who are diagnosed as Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma underwent radiation were recruited from oncology department of The second affiliated hospital of zhejiang university between August2003and August2011. We determinate the serum luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), growth hormone (GH) and prolactin concentrations before and after the radiation of the NPC patient. And then with the statistic analysis of the result, we can find out if the pituitary hormone change after the radiation. Results:We find that the five pituitary hormone all have changed after therapy. They showed a significant change in the level of serum peak value. A significant increase in the peak value of serum TSH are observed4months to48months after therapy. A significant change in the peak value of serum GH are observed3months and12months after therapy.the level of serum peak value of LH in males have changed4to6months after radiation. Increased serum FSH and prolactin levels were noted. Conclusion:the five pituitary hormone all have occurd dynamic changes after radiation, but none of the patients showed any clinically recognizable symptoms or signs of hormone deficiency after therapy.
