Clinical Observation Of Catgut Implantation At Acupoint Of Neiguan On Treating Atrial Fibrillation

ObjectivesBy using the randomized, controlled prospective clinical research methods, comparing effects of catgut implantation at acupoint of Neiguan and Amiodaron in the treatment of atrial fibrillation. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of catgut implantation at acupoint of Neiguan in treating atrial fibrillation.Methods60patients of Guangdong Provincial TCM Hospital diagnosed as atrial fibrillation and palpitation were randomly divided into two groups, test group (catgut implantation at acupoint of Neiguan group) and control group (Amiodaron group).On the basis of treatment on primary diseases and anticoagulation, the control group were treated with the oral administration of Amiodaron, take200mg tid as initial dosage, after one week changed to take200mg bid lasting a week. After that the inefficacy cases continued taking200mg bid for another week, then changed to take200mg qd as maintenance dose. Otherwise, the effective cases taked200mg qd as maintenance dose from the third week.The test group were treated with the catgut implantation at acupoint of Neiguan. Each patient of test group got treated once a week, one week for a course, two course altogether.(Operating methods:disinfecting the parts of catgut implantation normally, implantting the catgut into the acupoint of Neiguan by a needle, then pull the needle out and press the puncture part by cotton ball.)ECG efficacy and clinical symptomatic improvement were compared before and after treatment between two groups. The safety and adverse reactions of catgut implantation at acupoint of Neiguan were also observed at the same time. Results1.The comparison of ECG efficacy:The total effective rate was70.0%in test group and76.7%in controll group. There was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05).2. The comparison of average ventricular rate:the average ventricular rates of two groups after treating fell down obviously (P<0.05). But there was no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05).3. The comparison of integrated TCM syndrome effect:The total effective rate was86.7%in test group and43.3%in controll group. The two groups have significant difference in improving TCM syndrome, the difference had statistical significance(P<0.01). The test group has better efficacy in improving TCM syndrome.4. The comparison of single symptom efficacy:The test group can significantly improve the symptom of palpitation chest distress、shortness of breath、 dizziness、hypodynamia(P<0.05or P<0.01).The controll group can only improve the palpitation (P<0.05). Statistical study showed the curative effect of two groups had a significant difference (P<0.05).5. safety monitor:The incidence of adverse reactions was3.33%(test group) and16.7%(controll group) respectively, there was statistically significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05). No toxic side effects were found and without withdrawal in two groups.ConclusionThere was no significant difference on ECG efficacy in two groups. The two groups have significant difference in improving TCM syndrome and main symptom of atrial fibrillation. The results show that catgut implantation at acupoint of Neiguan is effecttive on the treatment of atrial fibrillation, especially on improving the symptom of palpitation、chest distress、shortness of breath、 dizziness、hypodynamia and integrated TCM syndrome. Safety monitoring shows no adverse reactions and toxic side effects. Catgut implantation at acupoint of Neiguan is effecttive、safety and reliability for clinical use.
