Clinical Research On The Effect Of Catgut Implantation At Acupoint In Treating Premenstrua Syndrome

ObjectiveThis study adopted clinical epidemiology and clinical scientific research, mathematical statistics and analytical method, by randomized controlled study, applying pure Chinese herbs as control group. The objective of this study was to observe the Clinical effect of catgut implantation at Acupoint in treating premenstrua Syndrome.MethodsResearch objects were 64 qualified patients with premenstrua Syndrome, whom were selected from Jiang-Zhengda Clinical between February 2009 and January 2010. Randomly dividing the objects into catgut implantation at Acupoint group and pure Chinese herbs group in the ratio of 1:1.Each had 32 cases. One menstrual cycle a course, three menstrual cycle in total. Scoreing the main symptoms and sign changes of premenstrua Syndrome before and after every menstrual cycle. Detecting the patients'hormone level, E2, progesterone, PRL in the 21st±1 day menstrual cycle. Obseving the clinical effect and testing its safety.Using EpiData 3.1 software to establish database. Using statistical software SPSS15.0 to complete statistical analysis. Measurement data with means±andard deviation ((?)±S), numeration data with composition ratio (%). Measurement data between groups were analyzed by T-test (heterogeneity of variance with t'test or rank sum test), before and after itself with paired-samples T-test or Wilcoxon paired rank sum test. Categorical data between groups with Chi-Square test, ranked data between groups with Wilcoxon rank sum test. Making use of statistical graphics software Graph Pad Prism 4.03 to complete statistical graph. ResultsAll objects were given three weeks'treatment in this study. In catgut implantation at Acupoint group,4 cases of Clinical cure, clinical curative rate was 12.5%,18 cases of markedly effective, markedly effective rate was 56.3%,8 cases of effective, effective rate was 25.0%, total effective rate was 93.75%; in the pure Chinese herbs group,2 cases of Clinical cure, clinical curative rate was 6.3%,12 cases of markedly effective, markedly effective rate was 37.5%,10 cases of effective, effectiv rate was 31.3%, total effective rate was 75.0%.Comparing the total effect of the two group, there was statistically significant difference(P<0.05), meaning that the effect of catgut implantation at acupoint group was much better than the control group. Catgut implantation at acupoint method was good in improving all kinds of symptoms and signs of premenstrua syndrome, especially in improving patients'symptoms of breast tenderness, irritability and depression. Compared the effect of Catgut implantation at acupoint group and pure Chinese herbs group, there was statistically significant difference(P < 0.05).After treatment, the serum estradiol2(E2) and PRL levels in luteal phase decreased than that before treatment, but no significant difference (P> 0.05). After treatment,serum progesterone concentration in luteal phase was increased, with statistically statistically significant difference (P <0.05). Therapy of catgut implantation at point can increase progesterone levels in luteal phase and improve the inadequate luteal function.3 months after treatment, the total effective number of 54 cases were followed up and we found that the total effective number of catgut implantation at point group was 30 cases and 6 cases had recurrence, accounting for 20.0%; total effective number of control group was 24 cases,7 cases had recurrence, accounting for 29.2%. Comparing recurrence rate of this disease in the two groups after treatment, the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05), meaning that recurrence rate of the two groups were the same. However, statistics showed that the effect of catgut implantation at acupoint group was better than pure Chinese herbs group, with a lower recurrence rate. That statistical analysis showed no significant differences may be related to the small sample. No case of adverse reactions was found during treatment. ConclusionThe effect of catgut implantation at acupoint method was significant in treating premenstrual syndrome, and can increase progesterone levels in luteal phase and improve the inadequate luteal function. It was an effective, efficient, economicaltherapy, with durable effect, innocuity and few side effects, which was easily to be accepted by patients. It was safe for clinical appilication and worthy of promotion.
