Amaranthus retroflexus L, as a frequent wild plant in traditional Chineseherb,which belongs to Amaranthus family.The English local name is Pigweedred-root,It could be originated from Tropical America. Amaranthus retroflexus L,asa folk traditional medicine herbs has several thousand years in China. The wholeplant and seed of the Amaranthus retroflexus L could be used as medicine,which cantreat inflammation with bleeding and other effects.Through the efforts of modernscientists,it contains many kinds of chemical constituents, such as vitaminsunsaturated fatty acids terpenoids and trace elements. It also has high nutritionalvalues and extensive perspective in application.According to foreign reported in theliterature, Amaranthus retroflexus L whole herb can be used in adiposity,chronicuterus inflammation and thyroid enlargement.Though Amaranthus retroflexus L hascommonly used as a chinese herbal midicine for severval thousand years,butresearches on chemical constituents,pharmacology and clinical are few atpresent,and its research depth is far away enough.In order to explore the valuableexperience of folk traditional chinese medicine,in this thesis the author has studiedand researched mainly in the following aspects:1. We summarized the current situation of the Amaranthus,and botanicalcharacteristics of Amaranthus retroflexus L, growing environment. Amaranthusretroflexus is a nutritious edible vegetable, with good pharmacological activity.It hashigh nutritional values and extensive perspective in the healthcare industry, foodindustry and drug. Provide a reference and a basis for the future development of thisplant.2. In this thesis,the chemical constituents of the extract with85%ethanol-water fromAmaranthus retroflexus L. We studied the products by using macroporous adsorptionresin etc.The separation and purification of the chloroform component,ethyl acetatecomponent,butanol component.six compounds were isolated with silicagel,ODS,chromatography and recrystallization etc.3. We obtained6compounds from Amaranthus retroflexus L,and identify their structure with their physico-chemical characterization.Through IR,LC-MS,1H-NMR,~13)C-NMR,HMQC,HMBC spectra techneque, the four organic compounds’ structureswere identified.They are: α-spinasteryl-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside)(Ⅰ)、α-spinasteryl(Ⅱ)、3β,12β,20(S)-trihydroxy dammar-24-ene-6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl](Ⅲ)、3,23-dihydroxy-30-norolean-12,20(29)-diene-28-acid-28-O-β-D-glucopyranosylester(Ⅳ).3β,12β,20(S)-trihydroxy dammar-24-ene-6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl was thefirst isolated from Amaranthus retrofleexus L;3,23-dihydroxy-30-norolean-12,20(29)-diene-28-acid-28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester was discovered for the first time.In this thesis,studies on chemical constituents of Amaranthus retroflexus L, provide areference and basis for the further explore the value of Amaranthus retroflexus L,and to discover better medicinal active ingredient.
