Objective: To evaluate the intraoperative and Short-term Postoperativecomplication incidences between laparoscopic Surgery and open surgery methods inthe patients with malignant colorectal tumors. Discussing the risk factors of theintraoperative and short-term postoperative complications and evaluate the safety andfeasibility of laparoscopic surgery. Methods: Between January2011and December2011,276patients withcolorectal cancer underwent radical resection of colorectal carcinoma. Among which101patients underwent laparoscopic surgery (including6cases of right colon cancer,2cases of transverse colon cancer,5cases of left colon cancer,10cases of sigmoidcolon cancer,64cases of low anterior resection of rectal cancer,14cases ofabdominoperineal resection of rectal cancer).175patients underwent open surgery(including18cases of right colon cancer,6cases of transverse colon cancer,10casesof left colon cancer,32cases of sigmoid colon cancer,87cases of low anteriorresection of rectal cancer, and22cases of abdominoperineal resection of rectalcancer). The intraoperative and short-term postoperative complications incidence rateswere collected retrospectively in both groups. Results: Among the101cases of laparoscopic surgery,1case suffer fromurethral injury during the operation process.29patients suffer from short-termcomplications after surgery, including4cases of arrhythmia,8cases of respiratoryinfection,9cases of urinary retention,1case of deep vein thrombosis,11cases ofwound fat liquefaction or wound infection,1case of brachial plexus injury,4cases ofacute intestinal obstruction and1case of anastomotic leakage. Among the175casesof open surgery (including6converted cases from laparoscopic surgery),3patientssuffer from intraoperative complications, including1case of iliac vessels injury and2cases of bladder injury.3cases got blood transfusions in the surgery.28patients suffer from short-term complications after surgery, including3cases of arrhythmia,9casesof respiratory infection,4cases of urinary retention,1case of deep vein thrombosis,38cases of wound fat liquefaction or wound infection,2cases of brachial plexusinjury,4cases of acute intestinal obstruction and6cases of anastomotic leakage.Comparing with the open surgery group, patients in the laparoscopic surgery grouphave similar general conditions (P>0.05), estimated blood loss in the surgery are lessthan that in the open group (P<0.05), the incidence rate of intraoperativecomplications is similar with open group (P>0.05). However, the urinary retentionrate is higher than that in the open surgery group (P<0.05) while the cases with woundfat liquefaction or wound infection decreased significantly (P<0.05). The intestinalrecovery situations, pathological comparison and plasma albumin contents changesare similar in2groups (P>0.05).Conclusions:1. Incidence rate of intraoperative complications of laparoscopic surgery issimilar with open surgery.2. Incidence rate of urinary retention is higher than that in the open surgery groupwhile the incidence rate of wound fat liquefaction or wound infection decreased.3. The safety and feasibility of laparoscopic surgery and open surgery are of nosignificant difference.
