Objective To understand the changes of the intestinal flora in patients with IBS byanalysis of the intestinal flora,to observe the impact of probiotics treatment in patientswith IBS in intestinal flora, psychology, quality of life and symptom and evaluate theefficacy. Methods To choose26patients(age42.88±13.40years old、male14/female12)withIBS, defined by the RomeⅢ,from the outpatient department of our hospital fromMarch2011to June2011,and choose the normal control25patients (age38.76±9.33years old、male13/female12)whose age and gender were matched at the same time.1.Three kinds of intestinal anaerobes (Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus, Bacteroides) andtwo kinds of intestinal aerobes (Enterobacteriaceae, Enterococcus) were detectedquantitatively by the Mitsuoka method, the ratio of Bifidobacterium toEnterobacteriaceae (B/E value) was calculated. The intestinal flora between26patientswith irritable bowel syndrome and the normal control group were compared.2.The quality of life, anxiety and depression conditions between the IBS group and thenormal control group were evaluated and compared by SF-36,SAS,S DS;when IBSpatients are divided into the group with depression and anxiety and the group withoutdepression and anxiety depending on whether psychological symptoms was complicatedor not,and the intestinal flora of two groups were analyzed and compared.3.26IBS patients were given bifid triple viable capsule (3capsules,Tid) treatment for4weeks. the changes of five common intestinal flora, psychology, quality of life in IBSpatients after treatment were compared, the efficacy was evaluated by intestinalsymptom scores after treatment at the same time. Results1.Compared with the normal control group, the level of enteric bacilli of IBS patientswas higher significantly(P<0.05);the level of bifidobacterium and cillobacterium of IBSpatients were lower significantly (P<0.01or P<0.05); B/E of IBS patients was lowersignificantly (P<0.05).2.Compared with the normal control group, IBS patients’ average scores of quality oflife have declined significantly (P<0.01).12cases with various degrees of anxiety wereaccounted for about46%,which was significantly higher than normal control group of16%(P<0.05).10cases with various degrees of depression were accounted for about38%,which was significantly higher than the normal control group of12%(P<0.05);15cases with anxiety and depression were accounted for about58%. Compared with IBSpatients, their level of fecal Enterobacteriaceae and enterococci were higher, their levelof Lactobacillus、Bacteroides and Bifidobacterium were lower,B/E were lower, but noneof them was significant (P>0.05).3.4weeks after taking Probiotics, level of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli in patientswith IBS (P<0.01or P<0.05)were higher;B/E values(B/E>1) were higher, but none ofthem was significant(P>0.05). Enterobacteriaceae, enterococcus and bacteroideswere not changed significantly after treatment (P>0.05).16of26IBS patients wereeffective, while10patients were ineffective, the effective rate was62%; most Totalsymptom scores were increased significantly (P<0.05); anxiety and depressionconditions were not changed significant ly (P>0.05).Conclusion1.Most IBS patients maybe have dysbacteria, whose intestinal anaerobesz includingBifidobacterium and Lactobacillus decreased and intestinal aerobes includingenterobacter increased, B/E value was decreased. Dysbacteria may be an importantpathogeny of IBS.2.Quality of life of IBS patients decreased significantly, most of them were combined with neuropsychological symptoms, there is no significant relationship betweenPsychological factors and Intestinal flora.3.Probiotics can relive the symptoms of some patients with IBS and improve theirquality of life by increasing the number of intestinal probiotics and B/E value, which canCorrect intestinal disorder.Probiotics may be an effective treatment for the patients withIBS.But there is no efficacy on the psychological symptoms of IBS patients.
