ObjectTo test and analyze the physical and chemical properties of the new bovine cancellous bone graft substitute materials which deproteinized by two different methods, discuss which one is more suitable for the clinical application.MethodPhysical properties testing:used the vernier caliper to measure the sizes of the new bovine cancellous bone graft substitute materials, used the electron technology to finish its subtle institutions observation, and measured the aperture and porosity of the specimens at the same time.Chemical properties testing:completed hydroxyapatite content inspection of new bovine canllous bone graft substitute materials through the X-ray diffraction experiment, used the inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry to test calcium, phosphorus content, and calculated the calcium, phosphorus atoms ratio on which. Tested the protein content of specimens by kieldahl method and the fat content by soxhlet extration method, measured arsenic, cadmium, mercury, lead of specimen separately by the specified methods according to recommended national standards (GB/T) at the same time.ResultsThe bone graft substitute materials whicn were the bovine cancel-lous bones deproteinized by hydrogen peroxide and pepsin methods were similar in appearance, size, satisfied in and aperture and porosity, and both existed only one phase that was Ca5(PO4)3(OH) by X-ray diffraction, and the main composition is hydroxyapatite. The protein, fat and heavy metal content of bone graft substitute materials which deproteinized by two different methods, the protein, fat and heavy metal content is significantly lower than pretreatment (Ffat=85.727, P<0.01; FProtein=227.963, P<0.01; tPb=14.494, P<0.01; FCd=496.486, P<0.01; FAs=1741.374, P<0.01; FHg=84.592, P<0.01). Compared to hydrogen peroxide method, the bone graft substitute materials which deproteinized by pepsin method were lower in content of protein and the heavy metal, calcium, phosphorus atoms ratio was closer to human bone.ConclusionThe physical and chemical properties of the bovine bone graft substitute materials deproteinized by hydrogen peroxide and pepsin method both are obvious improved compare to the pretreatment, but the bovine bone graft substitute materials are better on the physical and chemical properties.
