| Objective:Increasing survival rates of cervical cancer patients and trend towards multimodal therapy have led to focus on the quality of life of cervical cancer survivors. The purpose of this study was to investigate the quality of life and to investigate the side effects and sexual function of cervical canser survivors undergoing different treatments. Methods:Women with cervical cancer treated from January2006to December2008in the Department of Gynaecology and the Department of Therapeutic Radiology at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital were recruited for the study. Quality of life and suxual function were measured using European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire(EORTC QOL-C30), and the Cervix Cancer Module(EROTC QOL-CX24). Patients with uterine cervical cancer keeping follow-up at least2years post treatment were enrolled in this study. Results:One hundred and twenty-six cervical cancer survivors (36Surgery,50Surgery+radiotherapy, and40radiotherapy) were participated in this research. Comparison of EORTC QLQ-C30showed that the majority of issues had minimal differences between the three treatment modalities (surgery, surgery+radiotherapy, radiotherapy). Comparison of EORTC QLQ-CX24showed that bloody stools, urinary incontinence and urine leaking had significant differences between the three treatment modalities。50%of the patients were sexually active.Concerning sexual functioning, patients in the surgery+radiotherapy group reported a lower sexual activity rate compared to patients in the surgery Group (p<0.05). Vaginal short, vaginal tight, sex pain were significantly higher in surgery+radiotherapy group (p<0.05). However, there were no statistically differences concerning sexual pleasure among the three treatment groups (p>0.05). |
