A Literature-based Study On Herbal Administration Regularity Of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Objective: To explore the TCM differential treatment regulation of diabetic peripheralneuropathy, in order to provide the basis for TCM treatment in the disease and the reliablereference for the clinical treatment and clinical research. Methods: The research literaturecollected from Chinese journal full-text database(1995-2010),analysis has been carried outdeeply, focus on the medicine that had been used, especially the internal therapy. Databasewas established with Access and Excel software, the medicine serves as the variable, themedicine found in prescriptions was valued as1,the medicine absence in prescriptions wasvalued as0. Frequency analysis was appllied to find the commonly used medicines andmedicine category, clustering analysis was appllied to find the prescription theircomponents with close interrelationship, all above methods were been used to explore theregulations of Chinese herbs usage. Results:251papers were selected out from theperiodical database according to the inclusion criteria and the exclusion criteria, there aretotal189kinds of Chinese herbs. The total frequency was2711times. There are19kindsmedicine that common used, accounting for63.45%of the all used medicines, theirfrequency was above35times. The most frequently used drug was promoting bloodcirculation and removing blood stasis drugs, their frequency was above31percent. Thefrequency of tonic drugs was above30percent, only second to the promoting bloodcirculation and removing blood stasis drugs. The three kinds of significant medicineproperty are warm,cold and flat. The three kinds of herbal taste of sweet, bitter and Xin,are most commonly used. Drugs were classified by meridian, the top five are the liver, thekidney, the spleen, the lung and the heart. Classified by the times showed in it, the top fiveare the liver, the spleen, the heart, the kidney and the lung. Conclusions:1.Based on the analysis of DPN prescription of Chinese medicine treatment, Astragalus,Angelica Sinensisand Ligusticum Chuanxiong are most commonly used. The most frequently used drugclasses are promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis drugs, tonic drugs. Theproperty of herbs is mainly warm,cold and flat, the tastes mainly sweet, bitter and Xin,meridians mainly the liver, the kidney and the spleen.2. All in all, drugs chiefly used arepromoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis and tonic. All this reflects that theetiology and pathogenesis features of the DPN are the vacuity and deficiency-excesscomplication. Tonifying and removing the evil are as the main application rule of the DPNdrug use.
