Purpose:Application of fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging), by alternatingintervals of acupuncture at Zusanli and its surrounding non-false meridian points to exploreacupuncture Zusanli acupoint functional brain imaging experiments, Zusanli acupointmeridian conduction characteristics and the activation region of the cortex, and exploratoryexplain the full three years of clinical effect.Subjects and method:23healthy adult volunteers,10were males and13females, who were right-handed,age21-29years old, average age of25.1years. Inform acupuncture zusanli and near falsepoints before the experiment, but the specific acupuncture methods did not do detaileddescription. Application GE signa1.5T MRI and phased array head and neck jointneurovascular coil, based on single-shot echo-planar gradient echo sequence (echo planerimaging) BOLD (blood oxygenation level dependentd) line functional brain imaging. Thesame sequence of alternating twist the needle to stimulate the left side of Zusanlisurrounding non-false meridian points and blocks experimental design mode, that is resting-to stimulate the Zusanli points-resting-to stimulate the false points of non-meridian-resting ".The application spm8processing fMRI data, access to the individual activation mapsacupuncture Zusanli and non-false meridian points and stimulated group Live map; Zusanliand non-false meridian points of the set of data unilateral paired t-test.Results:Acupuncture at Zusanli activate bilateral partial cerebellum, the right postcentralgyrus District (BA43), the left middle temporal gyrus (BA37), left sylvian fissure and the surrounding cortex, right dorsal thalamic ventral posterolateral nucleus the left dorsalthalamus, the left supramarginal gyrus (BA40), right middle frontal gyrus (BA9), the leftmiddle frontal gyrus (BA9), the left side of anterior cingulate gyrus (BA24), the rightsuperior parietal lobule (BA5), the right side of the paracentral lobule (BA6); Acupunctureat zusanli adjacent non-Meridian activates the left medial occipital temporal lobe andoccipital lobe on the left side, right side pillow left medial temporal lobe and occipital lobeon the right side back, Center back (BA3), narration mass into the lateral ventricle on theleft side, right inferior frontal gyrus (BA6), narration into the lateral ventricle on the rightquality, the right side of the Central back (BA3); Unilateral paired t-test statisticalsignificance of activation of the cerebellar vermis, the right middle temporal gyrus (BA21),right middle frontal gyrus (BA9), white matter of the anterior horn of the left lateralventricle, the right superior temporal gyrus rear (BA22), the Ministry of the right frontallobe Island cover (BA45), left pulvinar, left supramarginal gyrus (BA40), the right insularcortex and temporal transverse gyrus (BA13), left angular gyrus (BA19) the left middlefrontal gyrus (BA9), the left posterior cingulate (BA31), the right anterior cingulate gyrus(BA32), right middle frontal gyrus (BA8), the right top of the lobule (BA7) which activatethe highest intensity for the left angular gyrus (BA19), activation of the region’s largestright middle frontal gyrus (BA9).Conclusions:Acupuncture at zusanli to effectively activate brain regions related to clinicaltreatment effect, zusanli acupoint therapy of gastrointestinal disease, optic atrophy, and theimprovement of mental and found theoretical basis in the treatment of sleep, its activationcharacteristics consistent with modern understanding of traditional Chinese medicine.
