| Purpose:The purpose of this retrospective study was to develop and validate the use of the rib cartilage in reconstruction of the secondary cleft nasal deformity. The other purpose was to evaluate the use of the anthropometric measurement as an objective assessment of the results of the rhinoplasty.Methods:During the period September2009to March2012,21patients (9men and12women) who were admitted to our hospital for secondary rhinoplasty procedure involving the unilateral secondary cleft lip nose deformities were considered for the study. The mean age of the patients was21.65years (rangel5-36years). Its gross characteristics include nasal pyramid, widening of the alar base, a midline deviation of the columella and septum to the noncleft side, dorsal displacement of the alar cartilage, lower nasal dorsum, and so on. We sculpture the rib cartilage and transplanted to raise the nasal dorsum and nasal tip, prolong the columella and septum.Pre-and post-operative, follow up photographs were used by the optimal photogrammetry(measure the angle and ratio index) to evaluation the deformities of the cleft lip nose and the surgical outcome of rhinoplasty by rib cartilage.Results:All the operated cases of cleft nasal deformity had a significant improvement in the facial aesthetic and all of the patient were satisfaction the result. The optimal photogrammetry was a objective, easy to perform, precise measurement to description the shape and size of the cleft lip nose and the surgical results of rhinoplasty by rib cartilage.Conclusions:1.By performing rhinoplasty use rib cartilage, we can achieve appropriate nasal shape and get satisfactory results.2. The optimal photogrammetry appeared to be objective, easy to perform, precise measurement to description the shape and size of the cleft lip nose and it will be a suitable choose to plastic surgery and craniomaxillofacial surgery for a simple anthropometric measurement. |
