Objective:Three purposes are included in this experiment. The first is to observe the influence of exercise on cognitive function. The second is to explore the effect of serum testosterone (T) on exercise induced the changes of cognitive function. And the last one is to study the changes of T in exercise and to study the mechanism of T change in the movement.Methods:24SD rats were randomly divided into3groups:60min group,30min group and the control group (n=8for each group). The rats of60min group and the rats of30min group ran in animal treadmill (speed:25m/min), while the rats of control group did not exercise. After16weeks, they were given the Morris water maze test to compare the spatial memory ability. Then all the rats were decollated and the blood were taken. After that, the serum T levels were determined. The three groups of rat’s ley dig cells add equal amount of human serum, exam the level of T, in order to compare the leydig cell reactivity.Results:(1) The results of Morris water maze test showed that the spatial memory test of two exercise groups rats were better than the control group (P<0.05). But there is no significant difference between the60min group and30min group.(2) Compare to the control group, the level of serum T in two exercise groups are much higher (P<0.05). But there is no significant difference between the60min group and30min group. The level of serum T and the escape latency of Morris water maze was negatively correlated (r=0.779, P<0.01).(3) The result of the leydig cell reactivity showed that two exercise groups are higher than the control group (P<0.01),60min group compared with30min group had no significant difference.Conclusions:1. Exercise improves cognitive function and causes the serum testosterone levels increased. The level of serum T and the cognitive function was correlated.2. The capacity of Leydig cells synthesize and secrete T increased after exercise. This is one mechanism that serum testosterone elevated after exercise.
