Objective: To investigate the curative effects of preoperative interventionaltranscatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE)before radical surgery in bulky cervicalcancer in stageⅠb2~Ⅱa2. Methods:Preoperative TACE and subsequent radical surgerywere performed in45patients with early bulky cervical cancer (study group),while onlyradical surgery was carried out in other45patients with early bulky cervical cancer(control group) during2006—2008in our hospital. The survival rate of three years and therecurrent rate were determined and the long—term efficacy was evaluated. Results:Thetumor size was decreased in study group. The total short-term effective rate was82.22%.Pathologically,the occurrences of the metastasis of pelvic lymph nodes、para—uterusinfiltration、involvement of adjacent vessels and cervical deep stromal invasion in studygroup were obviously lower than control group(P<0.05). The3-years recurrencerecurrence of the tumor in study group was lower than that in control group (P<0.05),while the survival rate showed no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:TACE performed before radical surgery is a safe and effectivetherapeutic option.
