Objective:To establish the cephalometric norms for a Uygur adolescents, compare the gender and inter-racial variations in dentoskeletal structures, and to test the hypothesis that there are racial differences in cephalometric measurements between Uygur, Han and Kazakh nationality adolescents.Methods:84subjects aged12~18years(male41,female43,mean age15.4) with classⅠnormal occlusion and balancedfacial aesthetics selected from3380Uygur students, The lateral cephalograms of eachone were taken and measured by cephalometric measurement software(Bei Jingmedical university). Results:1)The cephalometric norms for Uygur adolescents with normal occlusion have been established.Statitiscal analysis indicates that dentoskeletal structures have no significant gender differences except the length of anteriorand posterior cranial base but there are significant gender differences on soft-tissuestructures except S1-LL.2)Compared with the same gender Han nationality adolescents, there are significant differences on except ANB, H angle, MP/FH(male),Z angle(male), SNA(female), OP/SN(female), MP/SN(female)indexes(P>0.05).3) Compared with the same gender Kazakh adolescents, Thereare significant differences on except L1/MP, L1/NB, Pg-NB, OP/SN, MP/SN, SNB(female)indexes. Conclusions:Uygur male adolescents possessed longer anterior and posterior cranial base, more protrusive lips than Uygur female adolescents, There is no significant gender differences on other dentoskeletal structures, and the convexity of Uygur adolescents is smaller than Han and Kazakh nationality adolescents, They have more retrusive upper and lower incisors, more protrusive chin, more anteriorly upwards located condylion, presenting typeⅢfacial features.Compared with the same genders Hanand Kazakh adolescents, they show unique characteristics of craniofacial structure.
