| Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of treatment for unstable intertrochantericfracture in the elderly patients with long-stem bipolar prosthetic hip hemiarthroplasty.Methods: From June2006to April2011,35elderly patients with unstableintertrochanteric fracture were treated with cemented long-stem bipolar hip prostheticreplacement in our hospital.11cases were male and24were female, Average age of78.7years(71~102years). Type â…¢ of the fracture by Evans classification was in14cases,â…£in21cases. To observations the ime for surgery, postoperative treatment effect, and theincidence of complications. Results: All operations were successful.35patiens werefollowed up. Average followed-up period was27.5months(6~64months). The mean timefrom hospital admission was6days(1~17days). The mean operation time was87minutes(50~180minutes). The amount of bleeding on average300ml(150~700ml). The mean timeof getting after operation were7.8days(3~24days). The length of time the average18.7days(7~57days). Lung infection in2case, venous thrombosis in1case, gastrointestinalbleeding in1case, wound healing extension in1case and hip pain in1case were found.There were not dislocation, loose and urinary infection. According to the Harriship-scoring system, it was found excellent in12cases, good in17, fair in4and poor in2in the last follow-up. Conclusion: Hip hemiarthroplasty with cemented long-stem bipolarprosthetic is a safe and effective treatment forunstable intertrochanteric fractures in elderlypatients. Patients have better prognosis, early weight bearing and less complication. |
