Clinical Research Of Needle Knife Therapy On Knee OA

Object:Provide a basis for the Optimization of needle knife therapy by investigating the clinical curative effect and safety of it.Method:Carry a dynamic observation on the VAS grade, the amount and distribution of tender area, the result of friction test of patella, swelling, the KSS score and the activity of knee of45patients suffer from osteoarthritis of the knee treated by small needle knife therapy; calculate their personal degree of satisfaction and the objective degree of satisfaction while compare their knee function after treatment with the data collected on themselves when untreated as well as both their personal degree and the objective degree of satisfaction in groups divided according to the syndrome differentiation of TCM respectively.Results:During this observation, fainting after acupuncture treatment accrue in one case while bending of needle appeared during one patient’s treatment. Comparing the data before and after treatment, the average VAS grade prior treatment is7.11±0.89,after four weeks of treatment the grade reaches3.96±0.78, the comparison of pre-and post-treatment had statistical significance(P<0.01). After a four-week course of treatment, the average amount of tender area is reduced to1.4from3.5; the number of patients whose result of friction test of patella is positive is reduce-d to11from39; the average decrease of cross section diameter of knee is0.9cm; the number of patients who get positive result in floating patella test is reduced to16from26; the average KSS functional score has been increased by15.51±5.14while the KSS clinical score increased by29.71±3.27and the average amplification of their knee activity is9.39±3.08°.9patients reported excellent improvement after treatment,12patients reported fine improvement,11reported a modicum of improvement while3declared that they didn’t find any improvement. The excellent rate reaches68.9%while the total effective rate reaches93.3%. The subjective satisfactory rate reach-s91.1%while the unsatisfactory rate is8.9%.Conclusions:The small needle knife therapy do have a curative effect on the early and intermediate stage of knee OA.
