Objective To select the biocompatible requirements materials of the ventricular assisted device by hemolysis test and cytotoxicity test. Methods Five kind of materials of polyurethane were divided into3groups, each of60cm2.Each of materials was added sodium chloride injection. From three test-tubes, each of tubes was added sodium chloride injection as negative control. From three test-tubes, each of tubes was added distilled water as positive control. All the test-tubes were layed in Constant temperature water. Added to each test-tube with dilution of rabbit blood,and continued to heat, took the liquid. Took the clear liquid after centrifugation, determinated the optical density. Prepared for the extract of the materials after the Sterilization. The Sterile filter paper of the material extraction was layed on the agar surface,which had L-929cells,dye(?) after light training in incubator,and observed by inverted phase contrast microscope.Results APCU,PCU and PU hemolytic rate were0.3%,1.4%,0%.But SPCU and HPCU hemolytic rate were23.6%,12.1%. The toxicity grades of APCU and PCU was0.6and0.2.but SPCU,HPU and PU were1.5,1.5and1.2. Conclusion APCU,PCU and PU were meet the requirements of medical materials by hemolysis test. APCU and PCU were meet the requirements of medical materials by cytotoxicity test.
