A Clinical Comparative Study On Two Kinds Of Operation For Surgical Treatment Of Intracranial Arachnoid Cyst In Children

[Objective] To discuss the recent effect of two kinds of operation: resecting cysticalcapsule with cistern-communication surgery under the microscope, and the cysticcavity-peritoneal shunt.,both of which have been used to treat the arachnoid cyst ofchildren.[Methods] The patients have been divided to two groups: Group A(Resecting cysticalcapsule with cistern-communication surgery under the microscope) and groupB(Cystic cavity-peritoneal shunt). By comparing the operation effect of the patientsinvolved this two kinds therapy3months and6months after the surgery, andanalyzing the result by SPASS software,we want to find out the difference of this towkinds surgery.[Results] The study includes30cases,16in group A and14in group B. The rate ofpostoperative complications is31.50%and25.00%; the rate of headacheimprovement3months after operation is87.50%and75.00%, and that of which6months later is93.75%and83.33%; the rate of cyst cavity decrease by3months is81.25%and75.00%, and87.50%and83.33%by6months. The incidence rate ofpostoperative complications of two groups shows no statistical differences(P＞0.05);there is statistical difference between two groups by the rate of contraction of thecyst(P＜0.05). Both the two kinds of surgery are safe and effective for the arachnoidcyst therapy of children., and competitively,the resecting cystical capsule withcistern-communication surgery is better than cystic cavity-peritoneal shunt at thecontraction of the cyst[Discussion] Both tow kinds surgery have an affirmative clinical effect in short time,and the resecting cystical capsule with cistern-communication surgery has better effect at contraction of the cyst, also it is easy to deal with the epilepsy zone, and thepatient do not have long-term implant of tube. So it is likely to be the optimal choicefor the operation of children arachnoid cyst.
