The Compative Study On Character Narration In Records Of The Grand Historian And Histories

Academia has paid more attention to the literary study on the characters of Records of The Grand Historian and The Histories since they published. However, the historical study is insufficient, and there’s no paper about the comparative study of character narration in Records of The Grand Historian and The Histories. Based on the previous research results, this thesis tries to make the contrast of the character narration in these two works.As is known to all, a number of characters were written in Records of The Grand Historian and The Histories. The author has no intention to compare them all, but to choose some representative characters and analyze their different narrative modes. Through the analysis, the author finds the narrative modes completely different in these two works. According to the author, the difference results from Chinese and Western different background, political system, writing purpose and historiography.This thesis is made up of five parts. The first chapter is Introduction, which contains five aspects, including research review, research contents and the significance, methods, and objective of this research. In this chapter, the author explains the efforts and conception of this paper, summarizes the current study situation and expounds the value and unique perspective of this thesis. The main body is from the second chapter to the fourth chapter. Through the analysis of different character narration in Records of The Grand Historian and The Histories, the author discusses different effects on character narration based on the historical background, creative tenet, historiography and their personal experiences. The fifth chapter is Conclusion, which summarizes all the problems talked in this thesis.
