Teaching Chinese as second language (TCSL) has developed into its new era when interculturalcommunication is commonly acknowledged. Therefore, culture has improved its post in TCSL, which can beproved by its percentage in textbook. The following problem is cultures’ randomness that leads to studydifficulty. Traditionally study of test book concentrated on text, vocabulary, grammar and practice. Study onculture is rare with no agreed culture syllabus for reference.With the help of a culture syllabus that was studied on analyzing more than2,000textbooks, the paperuses quality study and quantity study to track the commons and differences of these two basic languagetextbooks that are highly recommended and English speaker are targeted.The paper found that both textbooks emphasized on "daily life and customs", but used dramaticallyvarious editing method. Culture was studied by its amount, position in textbook, language, distribution andcontrast.
