Popular culture is the main means of mass media and popular in the public, it hasthe characteristics of information, business and entertainment and so on。It is thebreeding of a consumer culture from the personal sphere after a competitive society.The majority of contemporary popular culture refers to the cultural products which isbased on urban mass consumer groups, following the laws of the market situation, andthen through the lacking depth, easy copying,modeling of the mass media for massproduction.Chinese popular culture is an important part of the culture with Chinesecharacteristics.Reform and market economic system not only for the cultural construction ofsocialism with Chinese characteristics to provide the necessary political and economicconditions, but also create the conditions for the rapid rise of popular culture in thefield of Chinese culture.In the1990s, the development of popular culture has formed ashocking scale。Its realistic value orientation affects ordinary people’s feeling, thinking,aesthetic ideas and behavior and It truly reflects the people’s daily life in bits andpieces.However,the rise of mass culture is accompanied by the development ofindustrial society and it is the product of the combination with the market economy,commercial and industrial civilization. Excessive and arbitrary culturalconsumption will deny the people’s creativity and imagination and paralyze people’swill.Therefore, the correct development of Chinese popular culture is critical.In this paper,we will be contemporary Chinese popular culture as the object ofstudy to analyze the problems that have arisen in the process of the emergence and development of Chinese popular culture.At the same time learn from Horkheimer’scritique of mass culture theory, combined with China’s own situation,from the angle ofthe external influence of Western popular culture to Chinese mass culture and internalinfluence of popular culture on China’s social development to illustrate.\\\This paperuses a variety of research methods, such as comparative analysis, for exampleanalysis,documentary research and so on,Combination of a variety of methods to usefor the depth analysis and research on development status and problems ofcontemporary Chinese popular culture and then provide appropriate developmentproposals.This article seeks to meet the growing cultural needs as while increasingthe competitiveness of Chinese popular culture and then to achieve the internationaldevelopment of Chinese popular culture.The same time we will look for more possibleways in order to achieve the development of the Chinese characteristics of popularculture,complete the cultural construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics andultimately achieving socialism with Chinese characteristics system health and rapiddevelopment.I will try to make the greatest contribution to achieve this goal.
