The Research Of Chinese Film Industry Development

When Chinese film industry has been through20years of reform, the market isgradually mature and industry-oriented development direction has been clearly set.The following issues have become the topics of the age: how is Chinese movieindustry status? What kind of factors and industries mechanism is there and how topromote the industrialization process.With the perspective of economics, based on the empirical research methods andthe SCP paradigm framework, this study discusses the industrial structure, industrialbehavior, and performance characteristics of Chinese film industry at present stageand the correlation between them, and also gives selective recommendations forpublic policy. The study first demonstrates the commercial attribute of film and theinevitability of film industrialization. Then it reviews the history of Chinese filmindustrialization and considers that the reform path,“market after industry”, has madetremendous achievements but industrialization still lags behind. Based on the researchon the structure such as scale, degree of concentration, industrial barriers anddifferences, it concludes that Chinese film industry is oligopoly-type structure.Chinese film industry has become high differentiation industry, while the degree ofdifferentiation is in the same direction with industrial performance.With industrial performance. Industry depends on breakthroughs and reforms inthree fields:(1) The traditional concept that the film industry chain is just composed of filmproduction, distribution and exhibition should be abandoned.Under the guidance ofholistic thinking,more attention should be paid to pre-financing and post-derivativesin the development;(2)As far as industrial mechanism is concerned, the development model oftraditional film industry should be reformed. And a scientific and rational industrialmechanism which includes financial assurance mechanism, producer system，rational marketing practices, sound copyright protection and rich derivatives should be builttimely;(3) With the opportunity of the transformation of cultural system and theunderstanding of the current situation of Chinese film industry, the government shouldimprove services，enhance regulatory functions and introduce more favorable policiesto support the revitalization and prosperity of Chinese film industry.
