English has become an international language. The globalization of English inevitablyresults in its nativization in different nations and regions. English nativization is a reproductiveprocess, combing English culture with the local one. English nativization in China has drawn theattention of linguists home and abroad, and has greatly enlightened the EFL culture teaching inChina.Based on the theories of language and change language contact, and the“Two-LevelEnglish”Hypothesis, the thesis adopts qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. The authorfirst investigates the phenomenon of China English, and analyzes its characteristics andintelligibility in the level of lexis. Then taking the 75 test papers as the research sample, theauthor analyzes English majors’ awareness of China English, and explores the reason for suchresults. At last, the questionnaires are conducted to investigate the students’ learning situation ofChinese culture, proving some references for college English culture teaching.According to the survey, the expressions of China English do not violate Englishgrammatical rules, and most of them conform to the standard of“intelligibility”. The ChineseEnglish learners have a certain degree of awareness of explicit China English, but the awarenessof implicit China English is relatively low. Besides, there are some difficulties for ChineseEnglish learners to express Chinese specialized matters. Therefore, in order to improve Chineselearners’ communicative ability, we should not only learn the target culture, but also our homeculture. At the end of the thesis, the author sums up and states the implications of the researchpurposes, proving some suggestions for English culture teaching. We should take an objectiveand rational attitude towards integrating Chinese culture into English culture teaching, and makeappropriate adjustments in teaching syllabus, college curricula, textbook and teaching toaccommodate to the practical situation of our country.
