The Research On Narrative Art Of XuXu’s Novels

In the Chinese literary world，Xu Xu is famous earlierly, rich of creations, but because ofthe political, historical and other factors, he has been divorced from the history of literature,critics and the view of readers. Fortunately, since nineteen eighties especially since the newcentury, more and more people begin to pay close attention to Xu Xu and get the affirmation ofhis creations of literary value, in these creations his novels get the highest achievement and alsoresearchers mainly focus. One of the major characteristic of Xu Xu’s novels is the warm andbeautiful stories, on the basis of close reading in his novels, taking the readability as thebreakthrough point and key words, this text will focus on the narrative in the story level,skilllevel and language level which can appear some prominent characteristics, and tries to explainthe narrative effect causes, hope to contribute to Xu Xu’s study.This text mainly uses the way ofrelevant narrative theories especially the Chinese traditional narrative theories and text reading toresearch.The full text is totally divided into three chapters,concretely explaining as follows:Chapter I,the story analysis of Xu Xu’s novels.According to the Hu Yamin’s "story" theoryin "the narrative" book,this chapter mainly study Xu Xu’s novels from the plot,characters,environment three aspects.In the plot,the novels not only use both singlet and doublet modes,butalso exhibit dilution plot tendencies,the two categories of "the silly woman and the heartlessman" and"the ghost" generalize Xu Xu’s novels typical plot feature,through the fusion of theancient"gifted scholars and beautiful ladies" narration and the detective novel modes,the plotshows complications and blurs.In the characters,the writer pays attention to the portrait,attachingimportance to "the spirit with form",the female descriptions especially show the writer’s pursuitof the literary aesthetic characteristics.In terms of the environment, jumping space andretrospecting time show the stray and nostalgic sense,at the same time,the writer pays attentionto the description of natural scenery,social background description is relatively hidden,vividenvironmental description adds the sense of reality.Chapter II,the technique analysis of Xu Xu’s novels.The way of Xu Xu’s novels which arepublished by serial newspapers is similar to the ancient Zhanghui Novel creations,as a kind ofform loved by the masses,Xu Xu also selectively inherits some features of Zhanghui Novels inhis creations,thus as a reference,this chapter mainly analyzes from the aspects of the narratorintervention with"Xu Xu",opening mode,ending mode,suspense,misunderstanding andcoincidence,also analyzes the succession and transcendence in the traditional narrativetechniques,summarizes the two sides of tradition and vanguard.Chapter III,the language analysis of Xu Xu’s novels.This chapter mainly analyzes hislanguage features from three aspects,like the fresh and beautiful language,the daily andphilosophical language,the form of discourse expression,furthermore,the frequent usage of thecolor,the philosophy,the direct speech is closely related to the writer’s personality and hiscultivation of literature.The conclusion part mainly discusses why the writer creates such novels and the value or loss of his creations.From the perspective of the writer,reading experience of classicalfictions,popular literature view,selling for a living way and commercial publishing strategy,letXu Xu turn popular side naturally in his creations.His novels present the readable,popular andphilosophical characteristics by the effective utilization of the readers’ reading psychology andholding fast to the intellectuals’ writing position,the writer makes great efforts in seeking abalance between the elegance and the vulgarity,which becomes the reason of his novelsreadability,as well as the value of his novels.
