With the global economic integration and China’s opening up policy, China has beenpromoting foreign trade on all fronts and established trade relations with the vast majorityof the world’s countries and regions. To meet the needs of foreign trade and culturalexchanges, a large number of composite business English talents who are languagemasters as well as familiar with international business are in great demand. However,traditional teaching mode of Business English cannot meet the needs of society. Thegraduates are poor in the utility of language and can’t get accustomed to the real workingenvironment. Therefore, teachers in the vocational and technical college should try toreform the traditional ways of teaching and learning methods in Business English teaching.It is particularly important for the instructors to highlight the cultivation of students’practical abilities and to improve the effectiveness of Business English teaching.The teaching mode of integrative teaching-learning-doing was put forward by JiangDayuan. This is a kind of teaching approach that is working process based, task-driven andset in the actual working environment. It advocates learning by doing in the real learningsituation and it is driven by the arranged tasks. Thus the perfect combination of teaching,learning and doing is achieved. The teaching mode of integrative teaching-learning-doingwhich is student-focused enable students to use, to master the language in a communicativesituation. Hence, students will develop their language proficiency in all aspects. Under themode of integrative teaching-learning-doing, students feel free to participate incommunication activities and can achieve self-fulfillment through the completion of theproject. This teaching mode has a distinct advantage over the traditional one in cultivatingthe students’communication skills. In a whole, it helps in cultivating the students’practicalabilities.The application of the teaching mode can improve the effectiveness of the businessEnglish teaching. It will help to cultivate the qualified talents who possess the communicativeskills as well as business knowledge. By doing this, the graduates from the Business Englishmajor in the high vocational college will be competent in their future work and play anessential role in the field.There have been some research and practice of integrative teaching-learning-doing intosome majors in the high vocational college. Through searching the information from theCNKI and the Wanfang data network, we found that the study of the application of integrative teaching-learning-doing into business English teaching is still in its primary stage. The thesisdiscusses the application of integrative teaching-learning-doing in the Business Englishteaching. The author also puts forward the implementation plan of this teaching mode andgives some suggestions.In this thesis, the author tried to prove the effectiveness of ITLD in Business Englishteaching in higher vocational colleges. 72 students majoring in Business English of RizhaoVocational and Technical College were selected as the subjects. The author made a researchabout the application of ITLD in Business English teaching in the forms of experiment,questionnaires, tests and interviews. The author made quantitative analysis and qualitativeanalysis according to the results. The ultimate goal of the research is to explore an effectiveway to promote Business English teaching in high vocational colleges. It is hoped that thisresearch can bring in some beneficial initiatives on the reform in Business English teaching inhigher vocational colleges.
