Business English is not simply business and English. The result of internationalbusiness negotiation is not only depand on the effective communication, but also theculture awareness, which plays more important part in international trade.Computer developed rapidly these years, which has already extended to the fieldof finance,education etc. from the initial science calculation and minitary. In the pastdecades, there was a new teaching method, computer assisted language teaching(CALL), which is thought highly of by the scholors both in home and abroad. Underthe help of continually updating software and plenty of net resources, English studybecame more efficient. This thesis is on the research of vocational school businessEnglish culture teaching in CALL mode.Under multimedia and CALL environment, teacher and students learn western cultureby using plenty of net resources of computer network and seek the best affect throughthe combination of teaching content, teaching procedure and CALL. This thesisconsists of five chapters. Chapter1introduces the background of business Englishteaching in vocational school, the thesis statement and the significance of the study.Including the population of English users and its status, recent multi-media CALLusing, the research point of view, route of the thesis, raising the research questions,and recent situation on business English and CALL. Chapter2reviews five phrases ofESP and the development and application of CALL and BET in vocational school.Meanwhile, it presents the seven theoretic bases of using CALL in BET and currentbusiness English teaching in China secondary vocational school. Chapter3introducesthe objective of teaching and lists analyzing and the teaching aids. Then shows theprocedure of the teaching on culture in business English class of vocational school inCALL mode. Chapter4collects the data and explain the collecting process.Combining with the theories mentioned in chapter2, explain the data in detail. Andsum up according to the data contrast between the two groups. Chapter5summarizesthe advangtages and disadvangtages of the CALL in business English class teaching,gives some suggestions to the BE teachers and students and shows the prospect of theCALL.In short, CALL will play more important role in business English teaching.According to the characteristic of secondary vocational school students, If usedproperly with clear educational objectives, CALL not only can interest and motivatelearners of English but serve the individual’s learning pace, cognitive style andlearning strategies. Moreover, CALL allows learners to control their own learning process and progress. However, despite greate user-friendliness, and effectiveness,CALL will never replace the teacher. Like other new technologies, CALL is not auniversal solution to language teaching. The effectiveness of CALL relies on howCALL is utilized to meet language learning goals for individualized learners inspecific educational settings. |
