In recent years, with the rapid development of the multimedia technology, multimedia assisting college English teaching(hereinafter referred to as MTACET) has gradually become the trend of college English teaching. It is clearly pointed out that colleges and universities should make full use of multimedia and network technology, and adopt new teaching mode to improve the teacher-centered teaching mode in the College English Curriculum Requirements (referred as "curriculum requirements"), which was published by Education Department of the Ministry of Education in 2007.Computer-assisted English teaching has already been carried out in Chinese colleges and universities for nearly 30 years, and the majority of schools have been equipped with multimedia classrooms, language labs and so on. Both college English teachers'computer ownership rate and utilization rate have been improved and have reached very high levels.Colleges and universities have been equipped with basic material conditions and relatively strong theory guidance. With the announcement of the Curriculum Requirements, multimedia-assisted college English teaching will become more popular in Chinese colleges and universities. Many scholars in China have done some researches on MTACET, but most studies are centered on the importance and application of MTACET, but the researches on the current situation of MTACET, especially that of vocational colleges, are relatively few. In view of this, the present research takes teachers and students from non-English major in Wuhan Transportation Vocational College as subjects to carry out questionnaire and interview. The purpose of this research is to provide help for the development of MTACET in Wuhan Transportation Vocational College through the investigation of the current situation of MTACET in this College. The present research is based on the Constructivism Theory. Through questionnaire and interview with teachers and students, it is found that the college under investigation has been equipped with a full range of multimedia equipments, and English teachers often use multimedia to assist college English classroom teaching. The majority of English teachers and students take positive attitudes towards multimedia-assisted college English classroom teaching. However, multimedia-assisted college English classroom teaching is still on its way, because there are still many deficiencies which need to be improved, for example, part of students think the effect of the improvement of their English level by multimedia is not obvious, and the courseware making level of teachers needs to be improved. Finally, through the analysis and discussion of the research findings, three kinds of suggestions have been put forward regarding the college, teachers, and students respectively. Since the present study is limited to the Wuhan Transportation Vocational College, and the number of representatives is limited, the results have certain limitations.
