Liang Ji was a traditional intellectual during the socialtransformation of the late Qing Dynasty and the early years of theRepublic of China. He grew up to accept the strict Confuciantraditional education, the traditional culture had a profound impact onhis future behavior orientation. National crisis, western learningspreading to the east rushed the traditional ideal of Chinese scholars.In the late Qing Dynasty, Liang Ji actively learned from the west, paidattention to current affairs. In politics, supported political reform,opposed to violent revolution. In the culture, he actively carried outsocial reform. Reformed education, improved drama, establishedvernacular newspaper, his purpose is to enlighten the people, awakenthe patriotic enthusiasm. So Liang Ji was a gentle and gradualreformer, he was the thought of the daring vanguard in the late QingDynasty. From 1878 to 1912 years, this was Liang Ji on the traditionalculture of the“Reversion”, his thinking of focus was learning from thewest.After the revolution of 1911, the fall of the Qing Dynasty, Liang Jireluctantly accepted the Republic of China, his thinking of focussubsequently reversed, he began to observe the trend of Republic ofChina, and he expressed the expectations that he hoped the Public ofChina can be a good government. Contrary, current situation in theearly Republic of China was the people’s livelihood embarrassmentand moral depravity, so Liang Ji suggested“Morality establishment of national”. This is that Liang Ji to the traditional culture of the initialalienation. After congress held, political party struggled, members ofcorruption, Liang Ji put“Morality saved nation”view, called topreserve national characteristics. This is that Liang Ji to thetraditional culture of the larger alienation. Current situation in theearly Republic of China was more and more disorder, moral turpitude,society situation become more and more disorder, Liang Ji resolutelychoose suicide and preserve morality. In addition, since the Republicof China established, Liang Ji always has a inseparable nostalgiacomplex in his thought, it also was that he to the traditional culture ofalienation. From 1912 to 1918 years, this was Liang Ji to thetraditional culture of the“Alienation”, his thinking of focus was fromthe traditional culture to seek the method of salvation.This paper chooses Liang Ji for the research center, by analyzingthe change in thinking that they know before and after the cultures ofEast and West of Liang Ji and Liang Ji as the representative of thisgroup of people, the purpose is to reflect the cultural phenomenon onthe early Republic of China of the social transformation, this is“LiangJi phenomenon”. Facing the various social disorders of the Republicof China, they denied the Western culture, turned to emphasis on thetraditional culture, the purpose is to make the traditional culture notto cut off. They from the traditional culture to seek the method ofsalvation, the transition of Chinese modern culture suffered setback,so explain the dilemma of Chinese modern culture transformation.
