The folk song just likes a mirror, which can truly illuminate the history of one nation and through which, we can see the struggle history and the mental statement and characters of the nation. It also reflects the desire for a better life, and thoughts, feelings and customs of one nation. In short, the folk song is considered to be an effective way to consolidate all the ethnic groups, and contributes tremendously to the reconstruction of the tradition of folk music.Qu Xixian (1919.9.23-2008.3.19), China’s famous female composer, composed a number of folk songs with traditional culture and wonderful themes in the last half century. What’s more, she adapted lots of cappella choral music, and it became a large proportion of China’s national chorus. At the same time, she was one of the most important and earliest composers in China who explored a cappella and make a unique contribution to the genre. She prepared a cappella song "Pastoral" (East Mongolian folk songs, Hammer lyrics) has been sung for half a century, and worthy of the treasures in the cappella of China.This essay is divided into three parts:introduction, body and conclusion. The introduction mainly discusses the study methods, the purpose, significance, and current research status. The body is divided into the following four chapters:the first chapter is Qu Xixia s choral music, which mainly introduces Qu Xixian’s choral musical and her influence on the creation and development of Chinese chorus music; Chapter II introduces Qu Xixian folk song, by analyzing from choral writing; ChapterⅢ, the backgroud of a cappella choral music, mainly analyzing from the era background, which includes Qu Xixian’s life experience and her musical talent as well as her preference; Chapter IV, the features of a cappella choral music adapted from Qu Xixian’s folk songs, analyzing from work structure, music writing style. The conclusion is to summarize this topic.
