The report on the translation of Advice to Young Men is an applied research on the processof the translation proper, which belongs to the bilingual project initiated by Foreign LanguageTeaching and Research Press. The report mainly aims at solving such problems: why wetranslate such source text? How to translate it? Why we translate it in that way? How aboutthe effect of the target text? In order to well explain those phenomena, the author firstintroduces the translation brief, such as introductions of source text writer and his majorworks, and then describes the preparation, production and correction involved in the wholeprocess of the translation. In the third part of the report, the author analyzes varioustranslation strategies and technics from both macro-and micro-points of view. At last, thereport reveals the nature of translation and summarizes several comprehensive qualities for anexcellent translator. |
