This thesis is to study Little Dorrit written by great Charles Dickens from itsnarrative structure, characters as well as its language with the help of M.M. Bakhtin’sDialogue theory, which reveals this fiction’s dialogue characteristics. As an essentialpart of Bakhtin’s literary theory, his Dialogue theory holds very close ties with hisPolyphony theory, Carnivalesque and Translinguistics, which constitute the wholeBakhtin’s ideology. While Little Dorrit has been crowned as the panoramagram ofVictoria era in19thcentury, it holds an important position in all Dickens’ works. Itssuccess is said to be a very tough process. This fiction is rather a labyrinth. No matterwhere readers start their reading journey, they are destined to meet prison or family.Through the thorough exploration of the dialogue characteristics in Little Dorrit, thisthesis is going to reveal that the fiction world of Little Dorrit is quite different fromthe traditional monolog fiction world. The various narrative perspectives and thewhole dialogue characteristics deconstruct the author’s supreme power. Furthermore, the heteroglossia is quite obvious in Little Dorrit, which shows some sort of languagecarnival. The official voices alternate with non-official voices; the leading voicescoexist with marginal voices; the authority is not authority any longer. Under thecover of the carnival exists the very deconstruction power of Power.
