A Construction Grammar Approach To "Hao Ni Ge X"

This paper try to interpret and study the structure of "hao ni ge X" in perspective of construction grammar. we hold the position that the structure "hao ni ge X" is a construction. Then we explain this construction’s structure, semantic analysis, pragmatic function, formation cause and cognitive basis in order to go deep into it. The total text is divided into six parts.Chapter one is the preface of the paper. It demonstrates the meaning of this study and also concludes the comprehensive analysis which is related to this thesis. Later, it illustrates the basic theories, the method of the analysis and the source of the material.Chapter two has researched the constructional semantics. This structure is a construction.we have deduced that it can not only express evaluation and emotion, but can also express positive and negative expression of the two aspects.Chapter three focuses on the inner-structure of "hao ni ge X". It analyses the constitutive type and the function of "hao","ni ge" and the type of X. Besides, it explains the reasons why X can be used in the construction. Finally, the relationship between "hao ni ge" and X is described.Chapter four mainly focuses on the external pragmatic function of" hao ni ge X". The construction shows a strong tone and a counter-expectation in language structure. In this construction, the constants are the signifier while variable X is the focus. Apart from that, it expresses exclamation evaluation of speech acts carrying the function of correspondence and junction in the context.Chapter five concerns on the cause and cognitive formation of "hao ni ge X". The formation of construction is closely related with human beings’ ways of cognition. The restriction and influence of the principle of economy also make the sense. What’s more, some features from relevant structure like "ni zhe ge NP" and "hao (yi) ge X" were inherited. After that, we continue to observe the construction’s cognitive basis which is subjective.Chapter six is the conclusion of the paper. We summarize our viewpoints and explain the value as well as the innovation of this thesis. Still there are some problems unsolved. We hope we can go deeper with this research later.
