There always exists a scale when we are engaged in any activity, above the limit ofwhich the original essence of things will be undermined, so does the application ofdecoration. All china’s traditional philosophy thoughts regard moderation as the coreideas in creation design and manufacture firstly, which are reflected widely in all aspectsof daily life such as farming, war, politics, international relationships, self-cultivation, art,manual creation, etc. People chase appreciation of beauty instinctively and infinitely.They create a magnificent decoration for ceramics arts. Meanwhile, they realize sanelythat under the prevailing socio-economic conditions, excessive pursuit of decoration willlead to overdressing which is not conducive to social life. Aesthetic criterion is influencedprofoundly by philosophical thinking and craft aesthetic ideology in the representativeclassic skill works. Moreover, the ancient thinkers of our country raise the moderation ofdecoration to political ideology. Ceramic decoration also inevitably infiltrates this kind ofclassical and wise attitude. On the basis of classical philosophy thoughts and traditionalceramic art, this paper makes an attempt to refine the specific measure or standard orrestriction of decoration which provides the modern ceramic art with some beneficialthinking.
