Zhang Yuangan,whose Courtesy name is Zhong Zong and Pseudonym is LuChuan Hermit,was a famous man of literary ability in Southern Song Dynasty. Themost influence works of his are Lu Chuan Lyric and Return Volume. Apart from this,there are180works of him still existing nowadays. As the connecting link between SuDongpo and Xin Qiji, his works have been widely propagated all the time. This studywill make the research on Lu Chuan Lyric from the following four aspects: author’s life,the content, the art style and the author’s status and influence.As for his whole life, there are great arguments over Zhang Yuangan’s birthdayand death day. All these arguments were finally established by researching.From the view of the content, Lu Chuan Lyric is rich. There are patriotic words fullof passion and sense of crisis; Festive lyrics showing season styles and expressing folkcustoms; Birthday verse that are emotionally simple and refined; Farewell lyricsexpressing reluctance of farewell and other kinds of lyrics that express feelings andconvey love between men and women. Being full of patriotism, the main content hasexpressed the patriotic passion and the feeling of cynicism. Moreover, they allexpressed the feelings of sadness from different aspects and showed the profoundideological content under the distinctive era character.As far as the art style is concerned, the main style is heroic and generous. Underthe influence of Su Shi and Du Fu, his works usually cited the famous allusion poemrelated to them with various expressing ways and reposed the subjective thinking byborrowing luxuriant imagery. His works are all with peculiar imagination and broadmood. As a key figure in lyric transition period in Song Dynasty, Zhang Yuangan hascreated a precedent for the patriotism poetry and unconstrained lyric in early SouthernSong Dynasty. At the same time, he also played a connecting role in the history ofChinese literature.
