Study On Questions In Liu Zongyuanf’s Prose

Study on Chinese grammar is relatively weak in middle ancient China. As one ofthe eight greatest masters in the Tang and Song Dynasties, Liu Zongyuan’s excellentprose has supplied abundance of studying materials about Chinese grammar in middleancient time. This thesis is on the basis of the questions in Liu Zongyuan’s prose. Thestudy about questions is of pragmatic category which is useful to widen the studyperspectives. This thesis aims to discuss the pragmatic value of the questions in LiuZongyuan’s prose and fully grasp the rich connotation. Due to the systematic analysis,descriptions and explanations about the questions in Liu Zongyuan’s prose, this thesisfurther discusses Liu Zongyuan’s linguistic style and pragmatic characteristics ofChinese grammar in middle ancient time.The significance of study on the questions in Liu Zongyuan’s prose includes:(1) onthe theoretical level, the study object, the questions in Liu Zongyuan’s prose, is usefulfor people to deepen the understanding about some characteristics of Chinesegrammar and prose styles in middle ancient time.(2) on the practical level, the studyon the questions in the prose is also useful to improve the appreciation abilities onancient prose and poetries and then smooth the teaching process. Careful analysis onlanguage structures, semantic and pragmatic value plays a positive role in correctlyunderstanding Liu Zongyuan’s prose.
