In the field of lamp design, shape design has been regarded as an important stage of the lamp product development. At present, the lamp design homogenized seriously and copied each other, lacking of innovative and attractive power, which has become a serious bottleneck restricting the lamp product design. We can simulate the shape of the natural things in the design, material, functional or structural form of inspiration can also be obtained from the natural things, and put creative use into design practice.This paper firstly analyzed the natural form, including meanings, principles and classifications, and discussed the relationship between the application of natural form, ergonomics, design aesthetics and green design, proposed the natural form application of meanings and prospects in product design.Then the paper takes the natural form application in the product design for its outline, analyzes the inter-linkages between the natural form and product form on the application methods and processes, and on this basis, summarizes up the revelation of the natural form application in the lamp design. By looking for the connection point between the natural form and lamp design, try to establish a lamp design methods based on natural forms, that is the unity of the natural form design as well as the modeling of lamp products within the scope of the product concept. The method includes determining the product concept, determining the natural form object, the natural form of cognition, the records of the natural form, the simplification of the natural form, the natural form in the lamp shape design conversion.
