Some Chinese idioms have their counterpart in English, and vice versa. However, quite often we cannot find corresponding idioms of one to the other. Thus, the topic of how to translate idioms from one language into the other falls on this paper. Idiom translation can not only enrich our mind, enhance our translating ability, but also improve our humane quality and make smooth cross-cultural communication as well. This paper focuses on the corresponding relationship of Sino-English idioms and translation strategy accordingly. By applying the theory to the Chinese version of English Zodiac Signs, the author shows his unique opinion on idiom translation between Chinese and English.Faithfulness and equivalence are considered the golden criteria of translation ever since.Out of over respectful to the writer, the translator is usually too cautious to translate naturally, shuttling between domestication and foreignization and wandering between faithfulness and smoothness. However, the translator could have translated creatively and artistically based on loyalty. The first chapter deals with the main four corresponding relatioanship between Chinese idioms and English proverbs; the second chapter presents the corresponding translation strategy and specific tanslatioan skills; Chapter Three talks about Zodiac Signs-related English idioms aiming at using the idiom translation theory; Chapter Four makes a sumarry of the whole thisis.
