:At present, teaching material on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language is becoming increasingly popular. But, while it develops fast, we should think about it slowly. Questions like whether those textbooks satisfy the study need of foreign students, whether those textbooks contain all the knowledge points required in a certain level, or in another words, are foreign students satisfied with those textbooks are not answered properly. With those questions, this paper focuses its main attention on Chinese Numerals, for it’s comparatively easy to classify and useful in our daily life. Firstly, I begin with a research on the study of Chinese Numerals with about 100 foreign students, but only to find the result so unsatisfying. But the rich data and information I gathered enables me to classify and summarize all the common mistakes and typical difficulties in Chinese Numerals learning, which can be of great use. Then, by comparing six different textbooks----two from abroad, two from Northern China and another two from Southern China, firstly listing the language points about numerals, then making a chart to compare them respectively on the structure of the language points and the functional items, I found the results also disappointing, which can be dated back as a cause of the above mentioned unsatisfying learning situation among foreign students. At last, after concluding on the advantages and disadvantages on those teaching materials, I brought forward three suggestions respectively on structure, function item and culture, proposing a series of criteria in future materials writing and design, hoping it will be a useful reference for further study and research.
