The imperial examination system in China originated with the SuiDynasty and it was established in the Tang Dynasty. Being perfect inthe Song Dynasty and abolished in the Qing Dynasty, this systemlasted for nearly 1300 years long. In the Song Dynasty, the imperialexamination system conducted a key reform. Zhao Song courtattached great importance to the imperial examination, promulgateda series of imperial examination regulations from the beginning of theestablishment of the regime and gradually formed a complete set ofthe examination system. From the abolition of the publicrecommended system, locking the institution system and the right toknow the Imperial Examination system to seal Mi transcriptionsystem to implement of the "transcription system", the innovationeffectively put an end to the fraud of the examination, and achievedeffective results. While expanding the imperial examinationadmissions, it stimulated the Song Dynasty scholars’confidence totake the examinations.The imperial examination system tended to be perfect at the timeof the Tang Dynasty, so to the Song Dynasty, it was inherited on thebasis of the Tang Dynasty’s examination system. The imperial examination system at the time of the Song Dynasty made a series ofinnovations and developments. The cultural development of the SongDynasty reached an unprecedented peak because of the generals’looking down on the system, the civil officials’paying attention to itand the expansion of the admission. Every coin has two sides.Scholars in Song Dynasty changed the learning attitude towards theart of calligraphy because of the widespread practice of"transcription system". The Song Dynasty’s Imperial Examinationwas no longer "electing the scholars by the book" and it made theheyday of the regular script in the Tang Dynasty decline in the SongDynasty. The "transcription system" changed the attitudes and ideasabout learning calligraphy in the Song Dynasty. From theimplementation of the”transcription system", we can see that theexamination room has achieved the effect of“fair”, and also a newcalligraphy thought in art was born and grow.
