Research On The Rhythms Of New Chinese Poetry And Its Aesthetic Value

To research on the rhythms of new Chinese poetry, we must firstly clarify the essence of the meaning of the rhythms. We have already had more than one hundred definitions of rhythms. These definitions are complicated, reasonable and focused on various respects. It is hard to say which one grasp the absolute truth of rhythm. However, since we want to analysis the rhythms of new Chinese poetry, we need to have a theoretical basis on it. Plato has once defined rhythms as "the flow of order", the discussion of this article just built on it. According to this definition, we can recognize that one of the essential characteristic of the rhythms is "movement", and another is "order". Only by grasping its essential characteristics, the researching on the rhythms of new Chinese poetry can be successfully launched.Based on the essential characteristics of the rhythms, the rhythms of new Chinese poetry can be divided into external rhythm and internal rhythm, according to the movement and the order composed by various elements in poems. External rhythm contains visual rhythm and auditory rhythm; internal rhythm contains rhythms composed by the fluctuations of imagery, plots, emotions, logic and other elements in poems.On the basis of the classification of the rhythms, further research into the aesthetic principles and aesthetic value of new Chinese poetry should be done. Usually, people’s emotions respond to the rhythm of poetry through the "resonance", which building the aesthetic link between readers and poems, making readers get into a certain status called "Heart-material sympathetic". This is the aesthetic principle and the resource of aesthetic value of the rhythms. For the rhythms of new Chinese poetry, which embodies its aesthetic value is breaking and improving the norms of the traditional Chinese poetry, is emotional typification and the intellectual charm of it.
