Verb-object structure is one of the most basic and important syntactic structures in modern Chinese, and it’s also one of the essential structures in language acquisition.Via natural observation, individual case tracking and statistics analysis, this essay studies children’s natural language material, and analyze children’s V-0structure acquisition through usage-based theory of language acquisition and prototype categorization. This essay starts with the analysis of the V-0structure acquisition of a child from16months till the age of four from the aspect of syntax, semantics and words order, thus tries to draw out a reasonable explanation. This essay consists of5parts,chapter1confines the domain of the study, and reviewed the previous study of both V-0structure itself and acquisition, showing the source of this study’s theory, methods and language materials. Chapter2,3and4analyze children’s acquisition from syntactic structure and words order respectively, thus get some acquisition orders. The last chapter is a summary of the whole essay, the meaning and the deficiencies are also advanced in this chapter. The research shows that, children1s acquisition of V-O structure is gained gradually, the verbs and objects develop from single form into complex form individually. On semantics level, the first thing that children acquire the more frequently used theme which serves as prototype, other semantic types of V-O structure are acquired with the perceive ability’s development. On words order level, children’s acquisition of V-O structure also present diversity. The children show tendentiousness on the selection of words order, she can decide different words order according to the pragmatic view, the reference of cognitive semantics both inside and outside, and the difinite and indefinite quality of semantics, that is to say, syntax is decided by pragmatic and semantics.
