The Study On Polish-German Relations In The Interwar1918-1939

The outbreak of World War Ⅰ, Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire were defeated in the war, these conditions were conductive to Zionist for Poland. After the war, Poland which has been subjugated about one hundred years restored finally, with the help of the Allied powers. In the20s, in order to maintain the precious territory and boundary, Poland which was trapped by Germany and Soviet chose " one-sided " to France, and took antagonistic foreign policy toward Germany. By late1920s, Germany recovered and as a big power in the Europe, It strong claimed the territory and border to Poland; Moreover, in the atmosphere of the reconciliation between France and Germany, Poland changed antagonistic policy and took a neutral policy for Germany. In the30s, the world economic crisis broken out, the contradiction of the capitalist countries intensified, Fascist came to power, France gradually got rid of obligations to Poland, these factors lead Poland to adjust foreign policy, It abandoned Europe collective security system and took " equidistance" foreign policy between Germany and Soviet.Study of Poland and Germany relationship can provide important clues for the cause of the outbreak of World War Ⅱ. As it located between Germany and Soviet, this unique geopolitical make Poland play an important role in the political games among the big powers, although not fatal, but can’t neglect. When we examined the Poland and Germany relations between the two wars, we could find that Poland always misestimated situation and didn’t find a practical or effective policy towards Germany in political games. In contrast, Germany had clear goals and known what were the first important.Germany can adjust policy to Poland in different situations, It played with Poland freely. When Poland didn’t have value, Germany immediately ripped the hypocrisy of face and destroyed Poland by war.
